Men’s Weekend Golf

Posted on: 15 April

There was some good golf played over the weekend.  The course is getting more difficult and so less of the extreme scoring we had been getting used to at the end of summer.  If you see a greenkeeper, make sure you say thanks for all the great work they have been doing to have Evies looking in such fantastic condition.

On Friday the grade winners were Chris Kem(12) 40pts, Alan Locke(18) 39pts, Ray Hart(21) 39pts & David Leabeater(25) 41pts. Balls went sown to 35pts CB. In the 2BBB David Leabeater also took the money partnering with Martin Boland(28) for 49pts, balls in that comp down to 43pts CB.

The field on Saturday was smaller than usual, maybe people taking advantage of a perfect day to get some late season beach time? The winners in the grades were: Robert Taylor(7) 39pts, Kye Parkes(15) 43pts, Matt Newman(24) 42pts & Dick Paull(31) 36pts. 34pts CB was needed to win a ball. Andrew Moroney(11) and Paul Wilkinson(14) won the 2b aggregate on a countback with 75pts with balls down to 67pts CB. Well done to Greg Beatty & Jacob Morley for making eagles on the 13th!

On Sunday Shayden Binder had a great round of 3 under par off his 1 handicap to win Division 1 with 40pts. Col Casey(23) with 40pts took out division 2 – both winning  on a countback. 36pts CB won a ball. The medley teams 2 score went to Chris Timmis(23), Craig New(22), Brendan Schonkala(8) & Trent Mullen with 98pts, 4pts clear of the next team. 90pts CB won a ball.

Don’t forget that Saturday 20th is the iBidOnStorage Family Championship that is being held in conjunction with the regular Saturday event. This is for family medley 2B teams made up of mother or father with daughter or son .. and grandmother or grandfather with grandson or granddaughter. A $5 entry for for each team on top of the regular comp fees. The trophy is made up and ready to present to the winners.  Lots of golf coming up over the next couple of weeks, with some extra options on public holidays. Medley days on Good Friday, Easter Monday and Anzac Day. The forecast is for good weather so get out on the course and have some fun.
